Doctor Who news keeps coming, even with the rapid spread of the coronavirus. Whilst it’s forcing many people to stay inside their homes, it’s strange to think that, in some ways, the Whoniverse has been busier than ever. Members of the production team, and dedicated fans, have been finding new and creative ways to entertain each other as the world social distances.
So, if you’re stuck inside and looking for a way to get your Who fix, here’s a handy round-up of some of the things you might have missed…
First, the 13th Doctor herself sent a special video message from the comfort of her self-isolation. You can catch it here.
Second, current Doctor Who showrunner Chris Chibnall wrote a special mini story that takes place right after the 13th Doctor’s regeneration. Titled ‘Things She Thought While Falling’, it’s available to read here.
Meanwhile, former Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies treated fans to a special prequel to the 2005 episode ‘Rose,’ enigmatically titled ‘The Time War.’ Read the story (and the story behind it) here…
And as if that wasn’t enough, Russell T followed this up with a ‘Rose’ sequel titled ‘Revenge of the Nestene.’ Presented as a video, the new piece was performed by voice artist Jacob Dudman, and can be found here.
And speaking of YouTube, a familiar face returned to our computer screens for a special ‘Day of the Doctor’ prequel, written by the one and only Steven Moffat. Watch it if you dare…
Finally, Emily Cook from Doctor Who Magazine has been organising a number of global rewatches via Twitter, with the likes of Steven Moffat, Russell T Davies, Richard Curtis and Matt Smith tweeting along to past episodes. Be sure to follow @Emily_Rosina on Twitter for news of upcoming marathons!
